Being announced or. Trudeau lost two Cabinet ministers forestry minister Maurice Sauve and Charles Granger minister without port folo. His liberals were hit hard in Newfoundland shut out again in Prince Edward Island and Cut slightly in Quebec to 55 from 56 seats. But the gains from Quebec Westward More than compensated. In Ontario the liberals went to 65 from 51 seats and in Brit ish Columbia to 15 from seven. On the Prairies where the liberals had taken Only one of 48 seats in 1965, they won 11 this time. Manitoba went to five from one Alberta contributed four and Saskatchewan two. The conservative monopoly in Saskatchewan was broken As the nip took six seats and left the conservatives Only five.
