H u n d r e d s of workers streamed into the Street outside the Post office and main delivery building in downtown Toron to at 5 . Edt. Some bore placards and oth ers circled the Block in cars shouting and blowing horns. The walkout took effect at the same time in Vancouver with picket lines forming outside the main Post office. . Post office officials in Elaine and port Roberts wash., 20 Miles South of Vancouver geared for an Avalanche of Brit ish Columbia mail. Postmaster Ted Holzheimer said in Elaine that his office had been swamped with Busi Ness. One big lumber company had bought Worth of . Stamps wednesday afternoon. Wheat crops Patchy continued Rains has caused damage with Low lying areas in flax Fields suffering most. The special crops of the Valley Region All look promising. The Saskatchewan wheat crop could fall below the 339 million bushels produced in 1967. In the Northeast area stands Range from fan to excellent but in the big wheat growing Triangle from Imperial in the North to Estevan and big Beaver on the South the wheat crop is below Normal by an estimated eight to 10 per cent. This area includes the important Regina Weyburn Plains and stubble sown crops Are now beyond recovery. The Saskatchewan Hay crop is less than 65 per cent of Normal fall Rye is being Cut for feed and some stubble crops Are being used for pasture. Alberta s peace River country has an excellent crop and with some additional rain the yields of All grains will be High. In the Central Region South of de and on to the red Deer area crops Range from fair to Good with More rain needed to bring a Normal crop to Matur Ity. After the peace River the Southern Region has the Best crop in the province but it needs additional rain. It is unusual for that Region to produce the Best crop.
