Averill Washington special tons president Johnson s proposal for Federal registration of firearms was overwhelmingly rejected twice by the House Fri Day. By a vote of 172-68, the House first Defeated a motion to require registration of All fire arms handguns rifles and shotguns then by a vote of 168-89, it Defeated an Effort to limit registration just to handguns pistols and revolvers.
