Rossmere handed Golf title by Mike o Shaughnessy Transcona threw away its Chance for the Manitoba Junior inter dub championship with one stroke of the pen monday at Southwood. The Transcona foursome tied with Rossmere with a 307 count and lost the title on a playoff Hole but actually scored a 306, which would have Given them the championship outright. Wilf Otte of the second place club turned in a scorecard marked 79 but spotted an error while his total was going up on the Board. His actual total of 78 was noticed too late playoff and giving Rossmere the break it needed. Mack first to break . Jinx Donny Mack of East grand Forks was the first american Driver to reach the Winner s Circle this year with a Victory in the Quarter mile feature race at Brooklands Speedway sunday. With races scheduled to begin at on the 19th Hole Steve Banna Tyne had a Birdie three Ken Bergman a four an d Dennis los tick and Sandy Kurceba fives for a 17 Rossmere total while Don Hupchuk turned in a four for Transcona Kerry Trot Man and Otte Sixes and Ron Osadacz a seven for a 23 total giving Rossmere the title by six strokes. Trotman had the Best round of the Day 69, two under Par for the Southwood 18. He birdied the Par five fourth and seventh holes to make the turn with a two under .34 and came Home with Bogie fives on the 12th and 15th, a Birdie two on the 13th and Birdie three on the 14th for a Par 35 and 69 total equalling the Manitoba Golf association s rating of the course. Bannatyne led the Rossmere squad with a 70. He birdied the seventh to make the turn one under and finished with two bogies and a pair of birdies on the Back nine. The Thunder Bay team was disqualified and placed last after shooting a 315 total Good enough for third spot. Mark Shashack turned in a 73, third Best round of the Day and Gary Vibert a 75, which along with Willie Winters 84 put the team into Contention before the fourth member Manfred Braovac came in. Manfred registered an 83 and was so disgusted with his performance that he refused to hand in his card and the team was disqualified. Brandon was placed third with i a 323 total St. Boniface fourth at 325 and Breezy Bend fifth with 327. Elmhurst came next 330, followed by three out of town clubs Strathcona port Arthur phantom Lake flin flon and Selkirk. In All 133 rounds were recorded for the Day 64 for the inter club Competition and another 70 a the qualifying round for 14 year Olds and under for the Manitoba Junior championships which get under Way wednes Day at Pine Ridge.
