Emms 64, he former general manager of Boston Bruins of the National hockey league said his chief reason for resign ing the Post he held for less than three months was the extensive travel schedule 1 but this was interpreted As the out he needed after at least one of his plans for Canada s National hockey team met with resistance from members of hockey Canada which controls tile team. It was known that emms promised full control of can Ada s 1969-70 National team by hockey Canada was consider ing the appointment of Eddie Bush coach of Hamilton red wings of the Ontario hockey association Junior a series As coach of the Canadian team. There was resistance to Bush by at least two members of hockey Canada expressed while they were attending later National ice hockey federation meetings in Switzerland Early in july. But it was also understood that emms whose agreement with hockey Canada was ver bal would not alter his plans to place Bush in charge of the team. Emms resigned his Post with Boston in 19c7 under similar circumstances. There was no indication of hard feelings nor were conflict ing opinions apparent during the Brief news conference to announce the resignation of emms. Or. Emms has decided that the extensive travelling in i solved makes it impossible said Charles Hay of Toronto president of hockey Canada. Emms said i just did t anticipate the travelling would be this extensive when i accepted the one member of hockey can Ada said emms found that he j was too old to handle a Job of this another hockey Canada member said the move has been anticipated for some Hay said a replacement for emms will probably be named within a few Days. This decision will be entirely in the hands of the Man we appoint to replace Hay said. Emms who currently owns and operates Niagara Falls flyers of the Ontario hockey association Junior a series accepted the Post in May with the purpose of organizing a lop Ca Nadian competitor for the 1970 world hockey championship s a Pool next March. Hay also announced that Eric Hargreaves of Toronto a for Mer accountant with Gulf Oil company of Canada has been appointed Secretary treasurer of hockey Canada to succeed Jack Hopwood of Winnipeg. Hay said that hockey Canada will be operated from Toronto. He said that Hopwood Felt the Secretary should be stationed in Toronto in order to be in direct communication with the presi Dent. Hay retired As president of Gulf Oil wednesday and said he plans to devote much of his time to the hockey Canada operation. Emms said that his retire input does not mean that he has i severed his connections with i hockey Canada. "1 just found the Load too heavy at my emms said.
