But before corporate directors Start ducking for cover beneath the boardroom table let me hasten to add that no Bones will be crunched in this play it s your Money they re after. Under new head coach Jim Spavital the club believes it has a product that should Appeal to the Community minded in an Effort to boost season ticket sales the bombers have devised a Selling Campaign specially aimed at the world of com Merce. The bombers Are seeking the same kind of support that the arts such As the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Winnipeg symphony orchestra receives from the City s business fraternity. Paul Quinton president of the club says the bombers Are looking for financial stability from businessmen in the City. We think we have a Good product to pointing out that the club has acquired a new coaching staff or. Martin said Steps had been taken to improve the product. To spearhead the Campaign the club is. Distributing a brochure urging businessmen to Back its winning proposal by purchasing a package of season tickets. Maintaining that a prosperous football club Fosters Community Pride and helps put Manitoba on the map the club says in its brochure just like our Ballet symphony and live theatre football is a significant contributor to our Community s thread of the club suggests that employers could use season tickets As incentives to attract and keep key employees and satisfied clients. The club believes a successful bombers is Good for business in Winnipeg generally. If we lose an important game there is a slowing up of business the follow ing Paul Morton of Odeon Morton theatres. Healthy season ticket sales play a vital role in the finances of any club involved in big time professional sport. In the Case of the bombers season tickets account for Over 50 per cent of the club in reve nue. The club was on a Crest of a wave 10 years ago when season ticket sales were in the Region of since then a change of fortunes saw sales slump by nearly half but according to the club business is pick ing up again. During the last two years sales have jumped 20 per cent to with the aim of bumping sales to this year the club Hopes to expand on the momentum of rising support by blitzing approximately 900 companies. Season tickets have a two fold advantage. They enable the fan to watch a game at discount prices in the Case of the bombers it s a 20 per cent discount on season seats ranging from ?28.50 to at the same time the club reaps the immediate Benefit of having Large sums of Cash that can be spent on bolstering the team. And it s mighty difficult running an outfit on the cheap in top class football. The bombers like other teams in the unique in the fact that they Are not run or owned by one Man As is the Case in Many major football clubs in North America. Under the com Pany act it qualifies As a corporation without share capital. It has t got a sugar daddy who can Fork out from his own pocket when Bill paying time comes. It s just run by enthusiasts who believe and breathe the game of football and Are convinced the bombers Are of value to the Community. The club is continually operating under financial Strain trying to operate an business without sufficient working capital. At the moment the club is in the red to the tune of approximately to operate successfully it s estimated the bombers need a surplus of grains Council body favors plan Western wheat Check off closer by Paul Pizii Cizyn a Check off on Western Canadian wheat moved a step closer to reality Mon d a y when the Canada grains Council s standing committee on marketing functions gave approval in principal to the Council s proposed Market intelligence and development service.
