The 46-year old Elgin Man. Native recently pocketed a Cheque for from the suggestion award program of the Public ser vice of Canada for doing just that suggesting. For years the department of National defence and other government agencies have been buying Brand new Herman Nelson Heaters at a copy. The purchases were always made from a United states company and its Ca Nadian subsidiary the Only known sources of the machines. They re used for heating Mobile and Tempo Rary shelters. One Day warrant officer Goodjohn a construction maintenance technician with the directory e of electronics and communications maintenance in Ottawa happened to overhear a conversation in a Public place about Herman Nelson Heaters. His interest was aroused and he began to make enquiries on his own. Eventually he Learned of a com Pany which had a number of rebuilt Heaters for Sale. He contacted them on his own time and was told they could be bought with a new Heater warranty for each. After further investigation and conferring with his superiors in the defence department i n conjunction with the department of sup ply and services a decision was made to Deal with the new company. An initial order for 24 Heaters was made followed by a later order for 15. Spare parts were also included in the Deal. Total Cost of the 39 heat ers spare parts and Deli very amounted to for new machines the Price tag would have been net savings amounted to his Reward was on the first savings and for each additional saved for a grand after taxes he took Home for on even merrier Christmas in the Goodjohn household. The warrant officer served in the Canadian Navy during the second world War but for the past 20 years has been in the air element of the Canadian armed forces. Will prosecute Dauphin Man. A news release from the Parkland regional develop ment corporation office tues Day of this week reads the following is the text of a Resolution passed unanimously by the Board of directors of Parkland regional development inc. At its regular meeting held Mon Day dec 14th. This Board of directors ratifies the action of the executive committee and general manager in the dismissal of the Assis Tant manager. The Board re Grets the matters arising from the action of dismissal. The Board receives the presentation of the past assistant manager which will be filed As an appendix in the minutes of this meeting. The Board directs the general manager to continue his duties with the Fuh Confidence of this Board. The Board will review with the general manager All matters pertaining to policy and the conduct of that policy by corporation staff. The Board expresses its Confidence in the executive com in the Wake of this major s h a k e u p in the managerial setup of the corporation or. It now rests with the Board and the member municipalities to see that the Parkland corporation fulfils its responsibilities to the communities and the people of the Parkland re Gion.
