Concern about the poor turn out at the meeting prompted several suggestions from the audience about publicity campaigns but no action was taken. Some concern was also voiced about the probability of a municipal tax increase in Tuxedo after Central City government takes effect Jan. 1. Abe Yanofsky of West Kildonan a member of Winnipeg s new Central City Council has urged fort Garry municipal Council to cancel the pay increase it recently granted its police Force. In a letter thursday to mayor Dick Wanking and fort Garry Council mayor Yanofsky said he was shocked to hear the municipality had granted its police pay parity with the Winnipeg Force. He reminded the fort Garry officials that provincial Urban affairs minister Sidney Green has asked municipalities to for Ward requests from employees or so increases to the Central City Council. Mayor Yanofsky also said the Central City finance committee of which mayor Wanking is chairman has asked the City s personnel task Force to begin negotiations for 1972 contracts with All municipal bargaining units. Council voted to buy the 24 buses for a total of including provincial sales tax. The province had agreed to put up half the estimated million Cost of 25 buses and is now expected to contribute half the increase of flyer industries formerly Western flyer coach Ltd., is 74 per cent owned by the province through the Manitoba develop ment corporation.
