Man. Ups income tax percentage continued levies us own taxes Ana Nas the Federal government collect them for it. Manitoba has decided to continue the tax collection agreement and thus needed a new percentage figure to equate the province s Revenue with the amount of tax the fed eral government collects for its own purposes. Or. Cherniack said it would be inappropriate at this time to discuss in detail what revenues he is expecting from Manitoba income taxes next year. But he did say that it is far from cer Tain that the province will real ize income tax yields in future years which will match the revenues the present system would have produced. The fact that Ottawa Felt it necessary to introduce a formal system of Rev Enue guarantees for the prov inces As part of its tax package should prove that provincial Revenue potential May be seriously reduced. The Manitoba government raised personal and corporate income taxes in 1970 to 39 per cent of the Federal tax from the previous 33 per cent. This Actu ally amounted to an 18 per cent increase in the amount of the lax payable to the province. In 1972, provincial corporate income taxes will remain at 13 per cent of the taxable Corpora Tion income the same As in 1970 and 1971. This is because the basis for collecting the corporation income tax has not been seriously changed.
