Sources that track had been lost of four japanese aircraft it was thought that possibly these carriers had been Dis patched or were about to be dispatched on a Mission to bomb san Francisco when the United nations conference assembled in that the Cabinet War committee minutes for 1942-1945, made Public Friday yield Many such titbits of information but Little if any major new historical in sights. Topics of discussion Are briefly noted with Little space Given to the remarks of com Mittee members. Besides hearing reports on the Progress of the second world War the committee busied itself with thousands of Rou Tine matters. On april 14, 1943, for example it approved in principle establishing a monthly publication for medical officers at a Cost of on dec. 22, 1944, it agreed that indians should not be con scripted for overseas service where their treaties supported claims for such exemption. The War committee s records for 1939-1941 were released ear Lier this year. The new Batch includes 17 volumes of commit tee minutes and 17 accompany ing volumes of reports and memoranda submitted to the committee. The committee chaired by prime minister Williana Lyon Mackenzie King included ministers directly concerned with the War Effort and was frequently attended by senior servicemen and officials. Amid the thousands of routine items run major themes such As the conscription crisis and future .-Canada relations. But because the main decisions and debates on such issues were usually made elsewhere the minutes Are Only marginally illuminating. Almost All the committee s dealings with the conscription crisis have been made Public in summary form by the former director of the general staff s historical Section c. P.
