The City of that Era is the Central theme for the Manitoba museum of Man and nature s Urban Gal Lery a permanent exhibition now under Coj Struc lion. The gallery will be Sepa rated into three areas. One will feature reconstructed buildings repro s e n t a t i v e of various aspects of Winnipeg life in 1920. Another Section contained in one of these buildings will House Chang i displays based on a series of themes relating to the development of Winnipeg. The third area will Deal with the population and re sources problems that will be faced in cities of the fun lure and will pose some challenging questions about Urban growth in years to come. The buildings in the Gal Lery will include an Edwar Dian Home a dentist s of fice a woodworking shop a Bank a drugstore photographer s studio factory All Peoples Mission and a theatre. All of these structures will be furnished in the authentic 1920s manner. One of tie main considerations in the planning of the Urban gallery was to put life and movement into this area said Jim Stan ton chief of the museum s human history division. We want to create a place where there Are lots of different tilings to touch and so people will be recruited to carry on daily activities As they would have been Dune in the 1920s.
