Administrators have advised Winnipeg City Council to suspend its policy of buying property in the area of the pro posed Sherbrook Mcgregor overpass. A report from City solicitor Duncan Lennox and j. H. Phi lips director of land surveys and real estate recommends no further land be acquired for the overpass until the City has made a decision on whether to build it. The report which has been endorsed by the City s Board of commissioners was received thursday by civic executive policy committee but was tabled until the commit tee s next meeting. At present the City land that would be needed Lor construction of the overpass As it is offered for Sale but does not initiate land transactions in the area. Residents have pro tested the policy saying that Lack of a decision on the Over pass and sporadic land acquisition by the City have contributed to feelings of uncertainty and decay of the Community. If the City decides to build the overpass it should immediately proceed with expropriation of All necessary property the report recommends.
