I assistance 16. Cultural. 1 groups wishing to set up classrooms outside the Public school system to languages. The announcement was made to the filth ukrainian Cana Dian Congress meeting in the. Or Walding speaking to the Congress delegates saturday said the language assistance program would be administered by the department of Cul Tural affairs. Organizations which qualify would be eligible to receive per student up to a maximum of class or one third of the. Total Cost of each classroom program. Or. Walding said the govern ments decision to implement such a program was in response to various ethnic groups in Manitoba who wanted to preserve their native language such As ukrainians. He said in Many cases there were Isuf fiend numbers to warrant a language class in the Public school system yet the demand was still there. The new program would get around this problem by helping cultural groups set up their classrooms outside the Public school system he said. Or. In another address to the John Munro the new Federal minister responsible for multiculturalism promised to work closely with All ethnic groups to ensure that their goals Are pursued.
