Whitelaw weeps establishment paper Tiger by David Macdonald free press staff correspondent London Willie Whitelaw wept Margaret Thatcher spar kled and the conservative party sighed with Relief after history was made in the duty grand committee room of the House of commons tuesday. Margaret Thatcher became the first woman Ever to Lead a political party in Britain and in the process of doing so proved the once mighty establishment of the conservative party to be a paper Tiger. Party chairman Willie White Law was shattered to learn he had received Only 79 votes com pared to 146 for mrs. Thatcher. Tears glistening on his Mournful face he tramped heavily into a private room to be consoled by former Home Secretary Reginald Maudling who lost to Edward Heath in 1965.
