Racino a Tref Par ref a 2 sports editor Winnipeg free press dear sir i m writing As a former member of the Board of the Winnipeg enterprises corporation t read coverage of the annual meeting of the Winnipeg jets hockey club in your newspaper and i believe. Your re Porter overstated the criticism made by the jets executive of the co operation they have received from the enterprises Board. I m sure it s sometimes frustrating for the hockey club because the Hinds of major improvements they would like to Sec in the Arena cannot be made overnight the additional seats they be asked for for in stance will Cost in the neighbourhood of several but i also know there has been excellent co operation Between the jets and the enterprises and i know the officials of the hockey club appreciate the improvements that have already been made in the Arena. These improvements include a new rink floor new rink Wall with Armor Glass new seats at ice level padded seats in the reds new lighting for television and a general painting end upgrading of the concourse area. These things alone Cost More than and the Money came not Only from the rent paid by the jets but also from other Revenue sources generated by the enterprises corporation. The Point of course is that Winnipeg enterprises can Only undertake Large scale alterations like the Arena expansion or the additional seats the football club would like to have stalled in he so sodium with the approval of Council. It seems to me the test Way to get that approval is for All the sports groups to continue to co operate with the enterprises Board soil can meet every one s needs in a fair and orderly Way. I am sure the Winnipeg jets hoc key club and the Winnipeg enterprises Wilt continue to show that kind of co operation in All their activities.
