Al though i kept on meeting visitors who imitate the habit of the townspeople in carrying a Golf club instead of a walk ing stick i stayed away from the old course and the other courses. Instead i strolled through the University s grounds. I admired the buildings that Are placed in various parts of the town instead of being confined and isolated in one District. Founded in 1411, the University is the oldest in Scot land yet some of its residential buildings reminded me of the distinctive architecture of Edinburgh s new town. 1 relaxed in the Well kept remains of the Cathedral the biggest in Scotland when building started in 1160. The Structure was badly dam aged by a fire was stripped of Many ornaments and sculptures after therefor mation and some 300 years ago the scottish parliament allowed townspeople to take away some of its stones to build houses.
