Man charged with arson following apartment fire councillors denied right to documents a private member s Bill to give civic politicians the right to demand any Munici pal documents was rejected Friday by the legislature s committee on municipal affairs. Acting Captain Leo j. Dusablon 50, of the Winnipeg fire department collapsed in the Partridge Avenue apart ment building shortly after the fire had been brought under control. Gallup poll pcs maintain Hig Lead on liberals after almost a decade of Liberal dominance the progressive conservative party gained its first Lead in a Gallup poll conducted shortly after its National convention. This current study completed during the first week of May shows the pcs have maintained that Lead. With 43 per cent of the popular vote currently the conservatives Are Well ahead of their 1974 election standing of 35 per cent. The new democratic party currently at 21 per cent is also above its 1974 vote level while the Liberal party with 31 per cent support currently is substantially below the 43 per cent obtained in the 1974 election. The conservatives Lead the liberals in the Atlantic provinces Ontario and the West. In Quebec where the level of undecided voters reaches almost one half of the electorate the liberals currently Lead the conserva Tives by a two to one margin. Voters make up 37 per cent of the electorate Well above the 29 per cent found in Early March.
