Doctors vote on proposal by Manfred Jager an official of the Manitoba medical association said thursday the Mem Bers of his organization have completed voting on the fee schedule the Lyon administration proposed for the Fis Cal year earlier this Spring. The government s final offer was for 6.8s percent retroactive to april 1. It was advanced to the medical association negotiators March 31 during a meeting they had with health minister l. R. Bud Sherman of Manitoba that Day. Negotiations Between the doctors and the government started last december but dragged on partly because of higher demands the doctors had made and partly Over a disagreement on the duration of the fee agreement. After the government advanced its final offer of 6.88 cent verbally the physicians asked that it be changed to 6.82 cent and made Retro Active to Jan. 1. The doctors had originally asked for More than seven cent in additional Money for this year. A spokesman for the association claimed earlier that instituting the new fee arrangement with retroactivity Only to april 1 will effectively reduce their 1978 raise to about 5.16 cent. Because of this the association executive decided not to act on the government offer for the profession As it could have under its mandate from the membership but to submit the offer to a vote. Deadline for mailed in ballots was thursday but an Mma official said late in the Day no Public announcement on the outcome of the fee vote will be made until after the next regular meeting of the association executive which is scheduled for wednesday.
