Women beat Stab guards in jail escape Montreal up police said four guards were severely beaten and three prisoners considered dangerous escaped during a mass Pris on break attempt sunday night at Tanguay women s jail in the City s North end. One guard was stabbed several times in the shoulder and the others were punched and kicked during a Small riot just prior to the escape bid. All Are reported in satisfactory condition in Hospital. At least eight prisoners were involved in the break out police said adding that it was pre arranged and at least one accomplice was waiting outside with a car. A Quebec provincial police spokes Man said the three who escaped Are believed to have jumped into a car waiting outside the Gates at the jail which houses about 90 prisoners. Provincial and municipal police who rushed to the jail were Able to prevent More prisoners from fleeing the spokesman said. The escapees identified As fran Cine Loiseau 24, Sylvie Bouchard 20, and Laura Etc Ger Nusu 27, were All serving terms for armed robbery in addition to other major crimes the spokesman said. Overnight police Searene d the area around the jail with tracking dogs and visited former addresses and haunts of the escapees but no arrests have been made. Several windows were broken and furniture smashed. The three escapees fled through a window and police said the stabbed guard May have been attacked with a piece of Glass. The break out apparently began when one Matron was taken hostage after prisoners went on a smashing spree inside a common room the spokesman said. When other guards attempted to free her they were overpowered and beaten. Identities of the injured guards have not been released. Tanguay with a staff of 150, is the Only jail for women in the province. Earlier this year there was the Case of a 19-year-old immigrant from Asia who was found to have leprosy after having lived Here for More than four years. As it turned out there was no danger to the Public since prolonged and intimate Contact with the infected person is Neces sary for the disease to be passed on. All immigrants to Canada Are required to have a detailed medi Cal examination but sometimes a disease such As leprosy which has a lengthy incubation period is not spotted immediately. The average doctor in Winni Peg would t think of leprosy when he sees someone with what looks like a simple or. Emanuel Snell the province s director of preventive medical services says. It can take a Long time before the disease is properly diagnosed.
