Federal officials will compile a list of Manitoba residents and groups offer ing help in an Effort to process the 600 refugees As quickly As possible. The immigration depart ment issued the Appeal in a news release saturday. The release said it was t known How Many of the refugees would be coming to Manitoba. The refugees Are among vietnamese who Are aboard the panamanian freighter Hal Hong off the coast of Malaysia. Many of the refugees Are ill and had been refused permission to land in Malaysia. France and Canada have offered to take some of the refugees who fled Vietnam several weeks ago. External affairs minister Don Jamieson and employment and immigration minister Bud Cullen last week agreed to accept some of the vietnamese refugees. Since 1975, Canada has accepted Over indo chinese refugees and presently has two refugee pro Grams in Southeast Asia. The government will pro vide assistance and Lan Guage training for the Refu gees.
