The one Man committee headed by Winnipeg lawyer Graeme Haig will hold meetings in three other Rural Manitoba centres and in Winnipeg before preparing a final report by dec. 31. The committee was appointed to investigate All aspects of lotteries in the prov Ince. Haig heard briefs from two local libraries in Morden and Carman and from a regional museum. Representatives asked the committee to consider shifting greater portions of lottery Revenue to their organizations. A spokesman representing 12 Carman churches also read a Brief which expressed concern Over the recent proliferation of lotteries and organized gambling in general. Haig said after the hearing that the committee wanted to get maximum input from All sectors about lotteries and How they can be improved. The committee s terms of reference include a study of the Manitoba lotteries commission the lot teries licensing Board and administration and distribution of lottery revenues.
