Winnipeg free press Friday december 1, 1978 City arrests begin in pulp Mill Brawl Kenora Kenora police began arresting striking members of the lumber and Sawmill workers Union thursday in connection with a wednesday morning Brawl at the Boise Cascade Canada Ltd. Newsprint Mill. Deputy police chief Walter Mychalyszyn said three men were arrested during the afternoon and there were arrest warrants for three others. Of the three arrested two Are charged with Obsi Ruc in the free press see Coupon on Page 28 Tion of Justice and one with assaulting a police officer. A total of 21 charges of obstruction of Justice As Sault mischief and wilful damage Are pending against 12 men As a result of the Brawl. Those charged will probably appear monday mom ing in Kenora provincial magistrate s court Mycha Byshyn said. The Brawl erupted about 8 . Wednesday when an estimated 200 pulp and sulphate workers members of local 1330 United paper workers International Union crossing a picket line of 75 strikers at the i. The Call was made in the first official meeting be tween labor minister Ken Macmaster newly named to the Post and recently elected Mil president Dick Martin. The two men Are both former steel workers Union presidents from Thompson taking on roles on different sides of the table. Martin during the meeting the presents mini Brief Mil presented what Martin termed a mini Brief a prelude to the organization s official Brief to Cabi net in the new year to make Macmaster aware of its concerns.
