Rodney Wayne Milvor was sentenced in the on tuesday by or. Justice Benja min Hewak of Manitoba court of Queen s Bench. The youth pleaded guilty to charges of attempted rape indecent assault and break and enter. In passing sentence judge Hewak said the accused who was raised to adult court for his Assize trial represented a danger to the Public. Milvor had been charged with rape and three counts of attempted rape but the Crown accepted his guilty pleas As answer to the whole defence counsel g. Greg Brodsky said Milvor who had a history of juvenile delinquencies had been unable to obtain desperately needed psychiatric treatment while he was being held at the Agassiz youth Centre. After his arrest Milvor told police he needed treatment. The attacks took place just 16 Days after his release Brodsky said in an interview. One of the complainants was termin ally ill at the time and died two Days later although her death was not linked to the offence. Court was told the youth had consumed 18 bottles of Beer and was intoxicated when he entered her Home. He was caught assaulting the woman and chased away. Milvor then entered a second House through a window. Court was told he found a sleeping woman and pulled Down her Slacks. Her screams alerted people in the next room and again he was chased away. The youth broke into a third House and found another woman also sleeping. She awoke when she Felt his hands on her Ankles. He ran out and police were called. He was found hiding in some Bushes. Or. Eric Ellis a psychologist at the health sciences Centre testified a jail sentence would probably be ineffective be cause the youth was in need of proper treatment. Without it he said he would continue to be dangerous. Brodsky said psychiatric treatment of juveniles in Canada was non existent. He said he could Only find one place that would take his client in Saskatoon and that was Only if they had the room. Connors pulled the car Over and when he opened the door Mccloy jumped out and reported he had been kidnapped. Jim came out of that car like he had been stuck with a cattle prod. To be honest i Don t think Jim would have made it to Toronto. In a situation like this it s not too often that the witness to a crime will get away Connors said.
