First boxing promoter Harold j. Smith revealed in Federal court on april 6 that his True name was Ross Eugene Fields. Later prosecutors disclosed that his common Law wife Barbara Newman Smith was actually Alice View Darrow. Yesterday further complicating the Case Fields attorney Jennifer j. King said that is not her real name either. She told . Magistrate John r. Kron Enberg that her Legal name is Bonita Schinnerer and her Maiden name was Bonita Maria Johnson. It really made me feel said Fields outside Federal court Here when he Learned of his attorney s other name. The Way things were going i thought i was the Only person in the world who had changed his the defence attorney told reporters that she adopted the stage name Jennifer j. Alcan president and chief executive officer Patrick Rich said yesterday the agreement to give the company part ownership of a Hydro Plant was a prerequisite in discussions to build the smelter. Securing a Long term Sta ble and Cost effective source of hydroelectric Power the most essential component in a smelter operation will offset the disadvantages of locating a Plant so far Inland he said. Employees he also noted the political stability Here was a favourable Factor for the company which has employees and wide ranging corporate activities worldwide. A final decision on whether to build the Plant which would produce tonnes of aluminium annually will not be made for another year or so. Calling Canada a racist country Daniels demanded clauses be added to the proposed charter of human rights to clearly state that aboriginal rights take priority Over Federal and provincial Laws and that native Peoples can seek court action if they feel their constitutional rights Are being violated. Native Peoples should also be Given a veto on constitutional changes affecting their rights Daniels said. Justice min ister Jean Chretien has already rejected the proposal. The proposed charter of human rights states that anyone can go to court if convinced his constitutional rights Are being violated. Section unclear but Daniels said it is not Clear whether that applies to the Section containing aboriginal rights. And the aboriginal rights Section which recognizes and affirms yet to be defined rights does not clearly state that these Constitution rights clauses take priority Over Federal and Provin Cial rights legislation As they do in the rest of the charter Daniels said. Daniels suggested 53 changes in the charter of rights but the major ones include having aboriginal rights guaranteed instead of Daniels said he wants an enforce ment clause because the history of broken deals by non indians in Canada is extensive. Daniels said he earlier agreed to support the Federal proposal but now thinks it is too weak. But with three Days to go before the end of constitutional debate he said he is not expect ing much.
