I am keeping myself at s length from Enns told reporters. These Aren t recommendations by govern ment. The government has t consid ered them. These Are strictly in plan Ning hands at this Point in Public meetings and he said he wanted it to be abundantly Clear that the planning process involved further Public meet legislature Ings before final recommendations Are developed and handed to the govern ment. White Shell cottagers who saw the proposals for the first time tuesday night were angered by a proposed new fee Structure which they said could boost their payments by 300 per cent and by a suggested assignment fee which they denounced As an inherit Ance tax. Enns stopped just Short of an outright Promise that the government which grand Beach hotel to get restoration Job the fire damaged Gran dome hotel at grand Beach provincial Park will be rebuilt and ready for business As Early As mid june Parks director Derek Doyle said yesterday. Doyle said the Manitoba govern ment has leased the property to two Winnipeg businessmen who have agreed to pay for restoration work estimated to Cost the hotel consisting of two build Ings comprising 16 guest rooms and a restaurant building has not been used since a 1973 fire. It was acquired by the government in january 1979, for Doyle said the two men Nick Hrousalas of Rae and Jerry s Steak House and businessman James Woodman Are committed to year round operation of the facility located on Lake Winnipeg at the North end of the Park. The 21-year lease Calls for the province to receive a annual rental and about three per cent of Gross sales. The government is not required to contribute one dime toward the reconstruction which will Start immediately Doyle said. The hotel opened in the mid-1960s, has had a history of financial losses. Grand Beach is 92 Kilometres North of Winnipeg. Abolished succession duties in its first month in office would t implement the proposed assignment fee. I have difficulty in accepting any part of that assignment fee principle. I doubt that will Ever see the Light of Enns told reporters. The plan suggested the fee be equal to 50 per cent of the increase of Market value of the land Between 1980 and the year of Transfer. In the legislature nip natural re sources critic Harvey Bostrom questioned Why the government was pro posing the tax when they saw fit to remove this tax from the incomes and inheritances of the wealthy in Manitoba and Are now proposing it for cottage owners Many of whom Are modest income Enns was less definite about the possibility of rental increases although he told reporters there will be no increase this year and Likely not next letter to Ernst in the House he said he had indicated in a letter to Jim Ernst chairman of the White Shell District association that planning activities would contain possible future recommendations about appropriate rental fees. Both in and out of the legislature Enns said Park planners would like to see about 25 per cent of the Cost of operating Parks which amounts to million this year recovered from users.
