May 2, 1981 13 Edmonton up two executives of the National Farmers Union said yesterday the Nofu was once targeted by the ramp Security service which wanted to portray the Union As a communist front. At Issue Are two letters allegedly forged by the ramp which were distributed to Farmers and at an Nofu convention in Winni Peg. Both letters carried the signature of William Tuomi Secretary of the Alberta Branch of the communist party of Canada. Tuomi insists he did t write the letters and that they were both ramp forgeries. Nofu past president Roy Atkinson and Nofu executive Secretary Stuart Theisson confirmed the existence of at least one of the letters yesterday and appeared to support Tuomi s View that they were either ramp inspired or written or both. It did t talk about subversion but it implied that the president Roy Atkinson and the vice president Walter Miller were sympathetic to the communist Theisson said in an interview of the Winnipeg letter. Of course that was he said two Alberta Nofu members suspected of aiding the ramp later left the Union. We did and we found out where it came Tuomi said the letter was inspired by unhappy Nofu members and by the ramp.
