May parents faced with choosing summer Camp Andy Blicq school Bells will soon ringing for the last time until september and Chil Dren across the City will turning their thoughts from science projects to summer Camp. Parents however will faced with choosing the Best Camp and squeezing the expense into the family budget. The Manitoba camping association has a list of accredited facilities in the province for parents trying to choose a Good Camp for their children. Information on available camping experiences can obtained from the Manitoba camping association office 1700 Ellice Avenue said Terry Burk Halter president of the association. Accredited Camps Only children who qualify for financial help from the Sunshine fund attend Only those Camps accredited or which have applied for accreditation the association Burkhalter said. To retain certification Camps must visited once every three years a standards committee. Burkhalter recommends that parents choose a summer Camp that is accredited the association. Parents Are assured All the work is done that needs to he said. Waterfront and general safety Are particularly critical Burkhalter said. There Are some Camps that Are not accredited who sort of fudge in these he said. If something were to go wrong it would reflect badly on All Camps he said. Accredited Camps must meet mini red shield Campaign has begun the salvation army s annual red shield fund raising Campaign began yesterday and will continue in Winni Peg for the rest of the month. This Camp also offers an integrated program for handicapped children. Manitoba Pioneer Camp located on islands in the Northwest Corner of Lake of the Woods this Camp offers Short and Long Canoe trips a full red Cross aquatic program and other sports arts and crafts and wilderness activities. The Camp provides a spiritual emphasis in its program and is open to children Between the Ages of eight and 16. Camp Ames located on Lake Winnipeg and operated the Mission Camp society this Camp offers a wide variety of programs including a wilderness ranch Camp advanced Manship Camp Canoe trip Camp out Post Camp and leadership training program. Campers Are part of a Christian living environment. Caddy Lake Camp for girls seven years and older this Camp operated the girl guides of Canada is located on Caddy Lake in White Shell provincial Park.
