Parents however will faced with choosing the Best Camp and squeezing the expense into the family budget. The Manitoba camping association has a list of accredited facilities in the province for parents trying to choose a Good Camp for their children information on available camping experiences can obtained from the Manitoba camping association office 1700 Ellice Avenue said Terry Burk Halter president of the association. Accredited Camps children who a qualify for financial help from the Sunshine fund attend those Camps accredited or which have applied for accreditation the association Burkhalter said. To retain certification Camps must visited once every three years a standards committee. Burkhalter recommends that parents choose a summer Camp that is accredited the association. Parents Are assured All the work is done that needs to he said waterfront and general safety Are particularly critical Burkhalter said. There Are some Camps that Are not accredited who son of fudge in these he said. If something were to go wrong it would reflect badly on All Camps he said. K accredited Camps must meet mini mum specifications in the areas of safety health administration transportation leadership personnel and programming Burkhalter said. Here Are some examples Myca Camp Stephens one of the oldest resident Camps in existence it was established in this Camp on Lake of the Woods offers a program and Pioneer red shield Campaign has Begum the salvation army s annual red shield fund raising Campaign began yesterday and will continue in Winni Peg for the rest of the month. This year s objective is up approximately from last year. A residential Blitz is to take place tues Day. Organizers expect one third of this year s objective to achieved the volunteers who will canvass the City on that Day. Manitoba Pioneer Camp located on islands in the Northwest Corner of Lake of the Woods this Camp offers Short and Long Canoe trips a full red Cross aquatic program and other sports arts and crafts and wilderness activities. The Camp provides a spiritual emphasis in its program and is open to children Between the Ages of eight and 16. Camp Ames located on Lake Winnipeg and operated the Mission Camp society this Camp offers a wide variety of programs including a wilderness ranch Camp advanced horse Manship Camp Canoe trip Camp out Post Camp and leadership training program. Campers Are part of a Christian living environment. Caddy Lake Camp for girls seven years and older this Camp operated the girl guides of Canada is located on Caddy Lake in White Shell provincial Park. Depending on the child s age activities include cookouts hikes Handi crafts badge work Archery canoeing out trips and other programs. Wilderness adventure this program no the Myca offers challenging Canoe tripping for boys and girls tween the Ages of 12 and 17.
