Yards v world aide s arrest adds pressure on Bani Sadr Tehran Reuter a Legal adviser to president Abolhassan Bani Sadr has been arrested in the latest in a series of moves against the embattled president by opponents in Iran s moslem clergy. Disclosure of the arrest sunday of Manuchehr Masoudi on charges of supporting counter revolutionaries taking bribes and smuggling people and foreign currency out of Iran followed an official statement monday that Bani Sadr himself bad violated Laws of the islamic Republic. It was the second arrest of a presidential adviser in two weeks. On May 17 an aide was taken into custody on a charge of smuggling secret documents from the foreign ministry. An official statement by the City s revolutionary prosecutor said 15 other people including two impostor had been arrested As a result of the Masoudi investigation. In addition a three member commission of moslem clergymen told him monday that he had violated the Constitution and the orders of revolutionary Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The commission set up by Khomeini to Calm the War of words Between the president and his opponents rebuked Bani Sadr for what it called his Defiance of a ban on Public speeches harmful to the country. It also accused him of violating the Constitution by re fusing to sign a Bill passed by the majlis the iranian parliament. This would empower the government to make appointments to vacant ministerial portfolios. Bani Sadr has not yet replied to the accusations but his office said he was expected to do so. The commission did not recommend any Legal action against Bani Sadr but sources in his office said he might be summoned by the judiciary to defend himself.
