The communist party s dismal show ing in the elections is expected to Lead to changes in its leadership. The socialists have also been Debat ing How far and How fast to go in implementing their economic program which Calls for nationalizing several Industrial groups and the remaining private Banks. The party s left Wing wants Mitter Rand to make Good on this Plank of the party platform while the moderates conscious of the financial and International Impact of such policies Are urging restraint. But in 1958 when Gle Lawn was incorporated Maxwell was one of three provisional directors of the company. The third mortgage was held by a Winnipeg schoolteacher. In Warsaw a Public opinion poll published in yesterday s edition of the weekly newspaper Kultur showed the roman Catholic Church is Poland s most trusted institution and the ruling communist party the least. Solidarity second the poll also said the Independent Union Solidarity formed during last summer s labor unrest finished second among the 14 institutions listed. The army was third it said while police were 13th. Kultur said the Centre of Public opinion an officially sanctioned polling Agency took the Survey six weeks ago. It did not say How Many people were contacted. Zamyatin s comments constituted the Kremlin s harshest attack on Poland since the 140-Meinber polish Central committee was warned 10 Days before that it was running Short of time to Correct the situation in the Warsaw pact country. Left unsaid then and again saturday is what the soviets would do if the polish leadership does not take Strong measures in the next few weeks to Roll Back the liberalization that have swept Poland since last summer s labor strikes. Fears have been expressed of soviet led Warsaw pact military intervention. The polish communist party is to Convene an extraordinary Congress next month. Delegates being elected now in meetings of the rank and file Are expected to ratify the reforms. Meanwhile Solidarity Leader Lech Walesa steering his Independent mass labor movement on a path of Modera Tion As Poland enters a critical phase before next month s party Congress has again called on the country to give the government a Chance to govern. Walesa made the Appeal saturday night in one of his longest appearances on National television stressing a Mes Sage he hammered Home during a recent country wide tour that his Union seeks peaceful co existence with a Strong government. Walesa s message of moderation appears to have hit Home and in recent weeks there has been a noticeable absence of friction Between the authorities and Solidarity even though East bloc critics continue to argue that Solidarity extremists Are Bent on destroying communist Power.
