No studies on need Kenneth Campbell an opponent of the City plan said no studies have been done on the need for the improvements citizens weren t brought into the planning process and the need for the improvements were not adequately documented. He presented a petition of area residents opposed to the plan to Community committee chair Man Alan Wade. Andy Blicq who favors the plan said the improvements reflect area needs identified by the City planning depart ment and would provide recreation facilities with no Detri ment to the Park. Tree planting and other improvements proposed would in fact enhance the Park and its use for outdoor recreation such As Cross country skiing would de crease vandalism he said. Eric Uhmann representing the Manitoba naturalists society asked who would staff the Wash room building. If the facility is built it should be smaller than the 115 Square metres planned and should be located on the upper Flat Plain at the Park s Northwest Corner he said. He said the Concrete Bridge should be located downstream of the planned site on an existing Concrete pad on either Side of the Creek where it enters the Assiniboine River. Wade said the Community committee cannot rescind the Park improvement plan which has already been approved by City Council and included in the City budget. If the plan does not go ahead now the City stands to lose about in provincial recreation Grant Money for the project he said.
