And it s that character flaw that not Only launched him last septem Ber on a seven month crime spree but also landed him a two year Pris on term yesterday. Murphy 17, who was transferred to adult court by juvenile court authorities pleaded guilty to 11 counts of break enter and theft and one count each of theft forgery at tempted uttering and break and enter with intent. Murphy of no fixed address told provincial court judge Howard col Lerman he embarked on his break in spree because he was asked to by a Man he d met in Winnipeg. I m the kind of Guy that if you Tell me to do something i la do Murphy told the judge. That s one of my main prob lems he added. Murphy s lawyer Brenda Keyser told the court the Man had Murphy and several other juveniles commit break ins and bring stolen goods to him for fencing. Although Keyser said she under stood Murphy got Little in return when judge Collerman asked Murphy promptly admitted he got half of whatever the Man got for the stolen property. Court was also told that when the police finally caught up with him Murphy again demonstrated a ten Dancy to be easily influenced. Keyser said although the police had arrested Murphy for Only eight of the 15 offences he committed Between sept. 25 and March 14, when they asked him if there were any others he owned up to seven More. He even agreed to drive around with detectives and Point the places out to them. She asked the judge to consider imposing Only a one year jail term because of Murphy s tender his co operative Ness with the police and the fact he s been in custody since his arrest in mid March. But judge Collerman noted Murphy embarked on his spree Only one Day after he was released from an Ontario jail where he d served a Short term for a number of break ins.
