The objectives of the study Are to 1. Develop alternatives and recon 1 emendations for the Kildonan Cor Ridor. 2. Determine the environmental impacts of the corridor and recommend measures to minimize these effects. The study will include a Public participation program to ensure Ade quate input from people who Are affected by the corridor. A review will be of the need for the corridor. Alternative solutions will be evaluated by such factors As Community and environmental impacts staging level of service and capital Cost. Community concerns the study is designed to Deal with the following major concerns which the study team recognizes Are shared by most citizens traffic congestion people experience delays during Busy periods of the Day travelling Between work and Home. Access across the red River in the Northern part of the City is often circuitous be cause of the limited number of River Crossings which add to the general congestion. Environmental concerns the Roadway will affect some of those who live near it through changes in noise air Quality and personal privacy. The effect of the corridor on those living nearby will be considered in developing recommendations which will enable the transportation needs of the area to be met in an acceptable manner. A study team of consultants experienced in this work has been retained by the City of Winnipeg. Underwood Mclellan Ltd. Will Lead a Multi disciplinary team of specialists who will undertake a Public participation pro Gram conduct engineering and functional planning studies and investigate environmental issues. Staff from this team will be working in the corridor area during the summer. This study team will be working with a project team from the streets and transportation department and the environmental planning department of the City of Winnipeg.
