fur traders and he had no idea it would one Day be the location of a Large Selkirk was buried in site of the nearest protestant except for one restoration of his grave in 1913 by his Selkirk plot was largely forgotten for 160 Mayes interest in history caused him to look for Selkirk grave while on a trip to he said when he found the grave the ground around it was the inscription on the Marker was almost illegible and two Oak Trees planted by the Selkirk family were Mayes said he was so appalled by the condition of the grave that he wrote an article about it in a historical Maga the a senior
