sparked controversy prior to the establishment of the advocates office in since child welfare activists have repeatedly urged that the government make the advocates position the committee noted that childrens advocates in British Saskatchewan and Quebec report to another recommendation made by the committee was that the childrens advocate be appointed for two consecutive three year with a review at the end of the first three rejected the committee rejected the suggestion that the advocates role be broadened to include handling com plaints from beyond the child welfare it recommended that disputes that arise Between child welfare agencies and the advocates office should be referred to the provincial director of child and family services for resold the committees report also contained
