A aah he a big Monkey cried for now his foot was stuck to the Wax Many a knee. A a in a warning you sir that if you done to let me go and give me a banana you la be very very sorry a he said and lifted his other foot to give a kick. Naturally his other foot stuck fast. Now big Monkey wailed. A give me my feet and hands or ill and he butted the Wax Man with his head As hard As he could. Big Monkey was completely stuck. A help me a he cried and soon the Garden was filled with monkeys. Every one of big monkeys family came and All his friends came too. When they saw big Monkey stuck to the Wax Man they did no to know what to do. They All stood and stared and shrugged As he continued to shriek. Meanwhile the Sun was rising higher and higher. Suddenly Little Monkey looked up and grinned. A i know what to do a he cried with glee and gathered the monkeys together to Tell them his plan. A Yahoo a the monkeys cried and climbed to the top of the tallest tree. They made a Pyramid of monkeys with the Littlest Monkey on the very top. Little Monkey stood up and looked up at the sky. A Sun we need your help come out and Shine As brightly As you can a Sun shone brighter and soon the Wax Man began to melt. Big monkeys hands and feet came free. All the monkeys cheered they celebrated by gathering every single banana in the old woman a Garden. Well when the Little old woman saw what was happening in her Garden she decided she could no longer protect her banana Trees so she moved away and left them to the monkeys. And from that Day to this All monkeys believe they own All the bananas. A Story from Brazil adapted by Amy Friedman and illustrated by Julian Gilliland. Once upon a time an old woman lived in the Middle of a marvellous Garden. She loved her Flowers and Bushes. But Best of All she loved her banana Trees. Those Trees grew so tall and were so filled with fruit the woman was never hungry. She did have one problem though. Because she was a Small woman she could never reach the bananas at the top of the Trees. So one Day As she was walking through the Woods she came upon a family of monkeys and had an idea. A big Monkey a she called to the biggest Monkey of All. A if you will come to my Garden and gather my bananas for me ill give you half of them to big Monkey thought that sounded Fine and so he skipped Back Home with the old woman. When he saw those tall banana Trees he grinned a big Grin and shimmied to the top of the tallest one. He swung from tree to tree gathering All the bananas he could. Stomped he shimmied Back Down to the ground and began to sort the bananas. He left the old woman All the tiny soft bananas and took the big fat bananas Home with him. Well when the old woman saw those soft Little bananas she was angry. She stomped into her House and thought about How she would punish big Monkey. As evening came on she lighted a bees Wax Candle and had a Brilliant idea. She began to gather All the candles she could find. Then she lighted every single Candle and gathered All the melting Wax into a tub. When that tub was full of Wax the old woman sculpted a Little Man out of the Wax. She was an artistic woman and her Wax Man looked nearly real. When she was finished the old woman placed a Large Basket on top of the Wax Many a head and carried him out to the Garden. There she gathered All the Ripe bananas she could and put them in the Basket on the Wax Many a head. At Dawn big Monkey came to Call hoping to gather another Bunch of bananas. When he saw the Wax Man with a big Basket of bananas on his head big Monkey bowed politely. A Good morning sir Mem Mem those bananas of yours look tasty. Could i have one please a the Wax Man sat very still and said nothing. Of course he speak for he was made of Wax. Big Monkey stepped closer. A Why wont you answer me a he asked. He began to feel angry for he did not like to be ignored. A just one banana a he asked. Still the Wax Man said nothing. Now big Monkey was really angry. A if you done to give me a banana ill push you Over and take All your bananas a he warned but the Wax Man sat still and silent. Big Monkey reached out and struck his Arm. The Sun had begun to Rise and the Wax Man was growing softer. The moment big Monkey touched the Wax Man his hand stuck to his Arm. A let go of my hand a big Monkey cried As he pulled and tugged and pulled some More. A and give me a banana or ill push you right Over with my other hand. Its very the Wax Man did not let go and did no to answer and so big Monkey pushed again with his other hand. It stuck too. For the song of a Blue Bird and the gentleness of a kiss will be All the Joys of the world we will one Day miss. A Jennifer Doney a a a poor and Rich children Canadian children Are luckier than poor children in other countries around the world. In other countries there Are Many poor children that done to go to school instead they have a Job for example India Africa and South America. In Rich countries they go to school they done to need to work. In some other countries they Are so poor that they even die of hunger or they beg for food. In Rich countries like Canada nobody Dies of hunger everybody has food to eat. The poor children done to have any clothes. They Wear rags especially in poor countries. Some of their clothes have holes. Their clothes Are dirty because sometimes they done to have water to Wash their clothes. Children in Rich countries have clothes their clothes Are Nice and clean. They have enough water to Wash their clothes they even have a Washer and drying machine. Some of the houses that the poor children live in Are falling apart they done to have everything they need in their House like Beds chairs fridge to and covers. The houses that the Rich children live in Are big Beautiful and have All the things they need. In poor countries the children a parents done to have enough Money to buy what they need. They have no Money because they done to get paid Well and some done to even have a Job. That is Why some poor children beg for Money and clothes. In Rich countries like Canada and the . The poor children live easier they done to beg for Money or clothes because their parents have enough Money to buy food and other things they need because they have a Job or the government helps them with Money food and shelter. In poor countries the children done to have any toys to play with because they done to have enough Money to buy toys. Sometimes those poor children done to have time to play because they have to work for example in India they go to work to factories or in South America some of them go to work to the Market with their parents. Rich children have toys to play with because their parents have Money to buy them. In some poor countries they live in War All the time and children suffer from the War. Sometimes they lose their family and become orphans and with nobody to look after them for example Bosnia in our Days and during the i and ii world War Long Long time ago. Sometimes they done to lose their family but they lose parts of their body because of the War such As during the Vietnam War. In Rich countries like Canada there Are no wars yet. We have peace we enjoy life. We have poor children too but they done to live like the poor children in other countries around the world. As Canadian children we should thank god and obey our parents everyday because we Are luckier than poor children in other countries around the world.
