A it was pretty spectacular. There were 3,000 to 4,000 Beluga whales at the Mouth of the River a said olympic windsurfer Murray Mccaig. A a they re very Large Friendly and curious. You could see them underneath you and you could feel the turbulence from their tails. They were coming up right beside us seeing what we were All after meeting a researcher from Churchill Mccaig got the idea to windsurf with the whales. Mccaig 27, his sister Amy 21, and fellow windsurfer Greg Despins 23, flew up North last monday and spent the first Day watching the whales behaviour. The next Day in full wetsuits they got the Chance to swim alongside three to six metre Long whales. A a it a one of my Best experiences Ever. It was amazing. You hear that they re very docile and very Nice. They were swimming along beside us and flipping Over and staring at us lying with their bellies up a said Amy the current Canadian Champion. Murray thinks their adventure was a first a no one has Ever windsurfer with whales before. A the whole experience will be the highlight of my As Well As being fun the trip was part of rigorous training to get ready for the North american windsurfing championship in Kingston ont., next month and the Canada summer games. Amy and Despins will represent Manitoba at the games in Brandon. The athletes usually train out of the Mccaig family cottage at Victoria Beach but Despins said its hard to beat the sounds coming from whales also known As sea canaries. A it was wonderful.
