Winnipeg Free Press (Newspaper) - October 12, 1997, Winnipeg, Manitoba Police still investigating murder Case foul up role by Leah Janzen Law courts reporter almost two months after the collapse of a High profile murder Case the Winnipeg police service continues to investigate its role in the foul up. The Saga began last August when second degree murder charges were dropped against four men accused in the 1991 beating death of Gordon John Kuchtey 47. The Crown had alleged the four accused were Neo nazis who mistook Kuchtey for a homosexual and beat him to death. Midway through their trial Crown attorney George de Moi Sac became aware that his key eyewitness Laurie White was wrong when she said she was behind the Granite Curling club the night of the murder and saw the accused beat and throw Kurt Eye a body in the River. In fact on the Day of the killing White was apparently in Vancouver. Charges were quickly stayed against Gary Allan Kuffner 30, Robert Eugene Welsh 25, Matthew Alexander Mckay 26, and James Russell Lisik 23.
