Operated by St. Aidan s anglican Church in three Small rooms the River Heights school has Only 17 kids from Junior kindergarten to Grade 6, a Faith based schools popular /a7 1 teachers paid Only a Small honorarium Check out books from Public libraries to supplement the school s Small Supply of materials. But Power like other parents and grandparents could t be happier. To me this school Means Safe. They re not going to be beaten up and they re not going to be bulged. They re not dealing with the aggression of the Public schools she said. What s acceptable in their Home is not acceptable in St. Aidan s parents consider Public schools violent and overcrowded with overworked teachers burdened by problem children to the detriment of other students. I was scared to bring my child up Here before i heard about this school said Cindy Howlett. Parents also worried about Large classes of children whose families Don t share the same values. The student teacher ratio allows for very individual attention said head teacher Jenny Chudley. We work with the children and Pray at different times of the Day. We re free As teachers to share our Faith with the parents pay $1,600 per child half that for kindergarten and Junior kindergarten students. The Church supplements the school s costs though it will be eligible for provincial funding next fall. Chudley said the school follows the Basic provincial curriculum and does discuss evolution.
