Federal fisheries officers removed More than 800 native lobster traps from Miramichi Bay yesterday possibly hastening the end of the bitter standoff Over aboriginal fishing rights. Members of the Burnt Church first nation seemed dispirited by the latest raid which they say leaves them with Only too traps in the water. But the fisheries department disputed that figure saying in a later statement that an estimated 1,000 traps remain. There were no confrontations during the eight hour government raid most of it conducted under cover of darkness.
