The largest single donation $5,000 was made Winnipeg a Volunteer Centre for its annual awards ceremony and the smallest was a $30 ticket bought for the guyanese cultural organization of Winnipeg annual banquet. Other donations include $3,000 for Christmas Lite to help with inner City Job training programs and $3,500 for the United Way of Winnipeg a Community forum last november for a total of $28,854 in contributions. Murray donated the Money to Christ Mas Lite this year instead of having his staff Send Christmas cards to City organizations. Murray said in an interview he does not intend to Cut this spending from next years budget for the mayors office even though spending in other areas will be slashed under councils aggressive six per cent property tax reduction plan Over three years. Under the City a Cost cutting plan the mayors office budget is falling after steadily increasing during former mayor Susan Thompsons two terms in office. The budget for 2000 was $501,017 and is expected to decrease to $499,163 next year and $496,418 in 2002. $100,000 less budget documents released this week show the mayors office spent about $100,000 less than budgeted As of oct. 31, helping to contribute to the City a $5.8-million 2000 budget surplus. Thompson now an official with the Canadian consulate general in Minneapolis said she did not want to comment on How Murray runs the City.
