dad gets prison time for sex with daughter
by Kevin Rollason a father who had a nine month sex Ual relationship with his own teenage daughter ? even threat ening to take away her Box video game if she did to submit ? has been sentenced to 34 More months in prison for sexual assault. Madam Justice Lea Duval of Manitoba court of Queens Bench said the now 18?year-old woman has been left torn emotionally with thoughts of suicide mixed with her continued love for her father. A father stands in a position of Trust with his child and this father breached that Trust Duval said yesterday during sentencing of the 42-year-old Man. The Man cannot be identified because of a court order protecting the identity of the victim. She a still a vulnerable person. While he did not use threats of violence he was Duval also dismissed the claim by the fathers defence counsel that the teen was complicit in the sexual relation ship. The father was actually sentenced to four years in prison by Duval but the sentence was reduced because of his months in pre trial custody. Crown attorney Terry Mccomb said the sexual offences Only came to an end when Winnipeg remand Centre guards doing a routine search for drugs through the facility came upon letters from the fathers daughter detailing sexual behaviour Between the two of them. The father was in custody for unrelated charges at the time. On one level she Felt abused and on another level she Felt loved Mccomb said. The Crown said the father knew his daughter had been sexually abused ear Lier in life was estranged from her Mother and had been living on the streets of an Ontario City before moving West to live with him. Court was told the father had to seen his daughter from the time she was two years old. Mccomb said that besides the threat to take away the video game the father also threatened to lock the girl out of the House or not take his heart medication if she did to have sex with him. Defence counsel Sean Sass said the teen still loves her father so much that she is still sending him letters and attempting to visit him in Stony Moun Tain institution.
