My email and blog have been buzzing for the past several Days. Peo ple want to talk about bad kids Good parents and youth crime. Last week i introduced you to Jane and Jack Jones a couple whose son was caught joyriding in a stolen car. They have stripped him of every Possi ble privilege. Their Story got a great Deal of sym Pathy from free press readers Many of whom could relate to the difficulty in trying to keep a teenager out of trouble. On saturday free press reporters Mike Mcintyre and Bruce Owen told you the stories of three youths whose parents decided to report their kids criminal behaviour to the cops. We attended juvenile court every third thursday of the month for 11 months and even after he completed his 40 hours of Community service i continued to drag him there until they closed his file. Let him take responsibility for his ? Penny i strongly believe that a child of even eight years old is old enough to know the difference Between right and wrong. Kyllikki Ruus continued please see feedback b2 pain medication to blame court told by Mike Mcintyre Bradley Baker miraculously sur Vived being stabbed in the heart ? Only to die Days later when he overdosed on his pain medication a Winnipeg court heard monday. The Man who allegedly attacked him Douglas Probizanski began his Queens Bench trial by pleading not guilty to attempted murder. Crown attorney Brian Wilford told the free press his office briefly considered upgrading the charge against Probizanski after Baker 42, died suddenly after being released from Hospital. However no direct connection Between the near fatal stabbing and the deadly overdose could be made ? other than the obvious fact that Baker would it have needed pain medication if not for the initial injuries he suffered. Probizanski told police officers Fol lowing his arrest that he was simply defending himself against Baker in the october 2004 incident. Baker and his Girlfriend were going around collecting on outstanding drug debts and had left a threatening voice mail message at the Home of one of Probizanski a friends court was told. Police and the Crown allege Probizanski was waiting in the House for Baker to arrive and then plunged a knife in his Chest upon opening the door. Probizanski told police Baker actually attacked him first noting he suffered a Small Cut to his ear. Its self defence. I Hope you arrest him too. He bottled me first Probizanski said according to two officers who testified monday. Probizanski is challenging the admissibility of the statement claiming he had asked to speak with a lawyer. Defence lawyer Ian Garber has also suggested someone else could be responsible for attacking Baker As police initially treated a different Man As the suspect before turning their focus to Probizanski. The Only other witness to the incident was the 80-year-old father of Probizanski a Friend who is expected to be called to testify today. Baker was rushed to Hospital in critical condition but made a remarkable recovery. He was released oct. 6, Only to die oct. 8. Baker was survived by two sons. His Mother and sister were in court monday for the Start of Probizanski a trial. ;
