Everyone assumes someone hit you. At least i think they do. That a what id assume. No one hit me ? really ? but i do have quite the Shiner. If you be watched Csc news at 6 this week ? and of course you have ? you May be saying to yourself Shiner what Shiner its there Trust me buried under several layers of construction Grade spackle. I spent hours sunday and monday searching makeup counters for concealer Strong enough to hide the Inch Long Black half Moon under my right Eye. It could have been worse. I could have chipped a tooth. Or lost an Arm. It All started with a romantic idea from my hubbie Honey lets go to note the skillful Way i shift blame to him right from the get go. Sixteen years together you learn a few things. Of course he a never called me Honey in his life but hey Why let the truth get in the Way of a Good Story actually this Story is Odd enough to be interesting All on its own without embellishment. Dave the hubbie in question would like me to work in shark infested Waters maybe endangered by a sword fighting pirate or two As he swoops in single hand edly to save me but i fear that might be Over doing weekend before last Dave and i flew to Venice for a Short vacation. Venice is amazing. A Maze of medieval lanes and alleyways crumbling Walls and shifting architecture. Bridges Arch Over Grey canals which yes can be a Little Stinky but not bad in late november. Each Bridge ? and there Are dozens maybe hundreds ? leads you to a new neighbourhood a new Plaza another restaurant to try. There Are churches filled with fantastic Art and stores filled with Candy masks and blown Glass treasures. There Are no cars in Venice no scooters either. If there were Only More Trees it might be the perfect place to be a dog. In Venice devoted dog owners take their pets with them almost anywhere. I saw dogs in the grocery store dogs in some restaurants and dogs in the pub. It did to Gross me out. I loved it. This was my idea of civilization. One evening while wandering Over a Bridge we stumbled upon a quaint Little pub. We went in ordered a Beer each and sat at a Booth. Now before i go any further with this Story i want you to know we were perfectly sober they were Small glasses of Beer and i Only managed to finish half of one Glass before the unfortunate incident. There was a Dachshund in the pub that night a cute Friendly Little fellow who wagged his Tail and charmed everyone. There was also a television in the pub showing a soccer match which is Why the dogs owner did to notice when the dog started digging in a trash can. He pulled out Napkin after Napkin. He also pulled out a broken wooden skewer the Type of thing that might have had a Kebab on it at one Point. The skewer was splintered and jagged. I worried it might Hurt the dog if he swallowed it. Knowing that some dachshunds can be Nippy i made sure the dog was Busy with the napkins and a Good foot away from the skewer before i reached Down to take it away. Guess what happened next chomp. His Teeth were in my hand so quickly no one saw it coming. I was shocked. Id never been bitten by a dog before. I jumped Back into my seat at the Booth As the dogs owner and his friends surrounded me to apologize and make sure i was of. I was Fine. Until i got hot. Really hot. And kind of dizzy. The next thing i knew i was outside the pub strangers carrying me by the legs my husband carrying me by the arms. Apparently id fainted from the Shock of it All in such a melodramatic Way ? slumping to my Knees first and then splat Flat onto my face everyone thought i was kidding. No kidding. Ice kept the swelling Down but nothing could Stop the Black Eye. The dog s owner assured me the Dachshund had had All his shots but ill go see my doctor just in Case. I have no Choice. My husbands making me go. Its the least i can do for him. While he was rescuing me swooping in single hand edly to kill the shark and fight off the pirates he spilled his Beer. When the excitement was Over and he knew i was of he drank the rest of mine. Sixteen years together you learn a few things.
