The family emigrated to Winnipeg in 1967 and Ellis began his career with Pioneer electric later Federal Pioneer where he worked until his retirement As vice president in 1992 shortly before ireneus untimely death in 1993. Mom was a great Cook. No one could make potato soup or borscht like mom. Mom loved her children dearly and in her eyes we could do no wrong. She could always see Good in everyone and never a bad word for anyone. She had a heart of Gold. Her sons provided her with much excitement such As skinning a Deer in the Middle of the night or having her hold a Magneto wire while one son turned the Flywheel to see if there was spark or having her jump from passenger seat to Driver seat at 60 Miles an hour with a Black and White in Pursuit. Her daughters were a bit gentler on her causing a few Grey hairs during our dating years for sure. Mom enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren and great grandchildren is lives taking in dance recitals skating lessons and Wingette and hockey games when Ever possible. She enjoyed seeing different parts of the country both near and far. She enjoyed a trip to Palm Springs Ca this past april. In the last couple weeks she enjoyed going for rides on her trusty John Deere Gator to see her cattle. Mom loved her cattle and Donkey As Well As her faithful dog Sadie. Mom enjoyed having family around. Since most of us kids did not live near it was always very special to her when we came Home on weekends or holidays. Mom loved country music. She especially loved Charley Pride and enjoyed seeing and meeting him again this past june. Mom loved to grow a big Garden. In the recent years even though it was just her at Home most times she still grew a big Garden. She was always More than Happy to give the produce from her Garden to family and friends. She loved her Flower planters As Well. With the recent addition of a new deck she was Able to display her Many Flower pots and hanging plants which she received Many a compliment on. She loved watching her two hummingbirds come to drink. Mom was always a very hard working woman. For As Long As i can remember she was either milking cows building Hay stacks raking Hay pulling weeds fixing Fence or one of the Hundred other things required to run a household and look after a family. In the summer months her House work would Start once it was dark outside and she came in from the Hayfield. Mom instilled a Good work ethic in All her children. Her illnesses of rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus of which she fought bravely All her adult life made it necessary for her to retire in 2001. On the exterior she seemed Strong but inside she was always in pain and wondering what would happen next. Gail loved her perennials in her Beautiful gardens and the Apple Trees in their backyard and spent endless hours keeping them in tip top shape. Her crocheting knitting sewing and needlepoint projects were always remarkable. Gail made several halloween costumes sweaters and afghans that were spectacular. Her most famous creation was probably the Christmas tree sweater with lights that was worn proudly by her daughter. Gail had a natural gift for composing poems and rhymes for various occasions at the drop of a hat. She loved to read do puzzles listen to music watch sports and go to movies. With interment at holy family cemetery. Michael Kuchtiak was born in Western Ukraine on february 5, 1923 to Ilias and Katherine new Traczuk Kuchtiak the eldest of six children. His Birthplace Bertyn is a Small town in the District of Horo Denka in the province of Stanislavov later renamed Ivano Frankie so in the Foothills of the Carpathian mountains. He attended school in Bertyn and then Kolomyic. The second world War was beginning just As Michael received his teaching certificate. He had planned to enter the religious life but instead taught first in an elementary school in Zha Bye in the carpathians then for two years served in the first ukrainian division of the ukrainian National army. In 1945 he took the Opportunity to travel to Rome where he enrolled at st. Josaphat s ukrainian Catholic Seminary and studied at the pontifical University propaganda fide. While there he met Rev. John Bala a ukrainian Redempto Rist from Canada who encouraged him to join the Redempto Rist congregation. The seminarian took his advice becoming a Novice at Fiorani near Naples in 1947. He made his first profession of vows on october 3, 1948, at the very same altar st. Alphonsus Liguori founder of the Redempto Rist congregation had professed his vows some 200 years earlier. Bishop Michael cherished this privilege. Seminary studies were then continued with the ukrainian Redempto Rist seminarians in Canada at Waterford Ontario. He professed his perpetual vows on october 3, 1950, and completed his studies at st. Mary s Seminary in Meadow Vale Ontario. He was ordained a Deacon on february 15, 1956, by Bishop Isidore Borecky of Toronto Ontario. On May 13, 1956, again at the hands of Bishop Isidore father Michael Kuchtiak was ordained a priest together with two other classmates frs. George Perejda and John Fetsco. The first assignment of the newly ordained for. Michael was to the Mother House of the ukrainian Rede motorists Yorkton Saskatchewan in 1957. He became the pastoral assistant at st. Mary s Parish in Yorkton and also for the ukrainian Catholic Mission the Many parishes of the Rural Yorkton District. From 1957 1965 he took pastoral charge of the Wynyard District with care and Devotion. In Yorkton be devoted himself to the care of youth and Young married couples directing an Active youth club Lucy and working closely with the roman Catholic pastors also Rede motorists at st. Gerard s Parish to organize two Catholic schools and form a separate school Board in Yorkton. He also served As catechist at sacred heart Academy a High school for girls conducted by the Sisters servants of Mary immaculate and at st. Josephus College a Christian Brothers High school for boys. While taking Good care of his charges there he also was the extraordinary confessor to the sister servants of Mary immaculate and their novices at Ancaster Ontario. In 1967, for. Michael again returned to Yorkton to be the Superior of the ukrainian Catholic Mission Community and to be pastor of st. Maryus Parish. During his pastorate a third elementary Catholic school was built a mortgage from adding a Wing to the Church in 1954 55 was liquidated and a Parish planning committee was formed to co ordinate major Parish events. The activities of the Parish organizations were flourishing. Besides his pastoral duties he served As a diocesan consult or to the Bishop and was elected to the extraordinary provincial Council of the ukrainian Redempto Rist province of Yorkton. With the new Redempto Rist appointments in june 1975, he was named Superior and pastor of st. John the Baptist ukrainian Catholic Parish in Newark n. J. During his pastoral charge there a Large mortgage on the new Parish Church was paid off and he expanded the buildings of the Parish Complex As Well As Parish activities. Father took Pride in being a hands on pastor serving As chaplain to the Catholic War veterans the holy name society and teaching religion in the Parish school and in catechetical classes. He was also a consult or of the ukrainian Catholic archdiocese of Philadelphia a member of the Board of directors or ascension Manor inc., an Arches archival senior citizens housing organization a spiritual advisor for Providence association a fraternal Benefit organization and a chaplain or advisor for Many ukrainian and Catholic organizations in and around Newark n.
