I base that statement on the fact that and get ready to be extremely impressed Here i am about to make my classical music debut. A a a of i am not kidding Here. Seriously they Are going to let me perform with the symphony despite the fact my Only experience with music of this genre is my near legendary ability to hum All the notes from the opening theme to the Lone Range which i have recently Learned is also known As the cavalry charge finale of the William Tell overture by some Guy named Gioacchino Rossini. I will be performing in something called new horizons in music appreciation As part of the a sons Hometown heroes pops program on oct. 3, 4 and 5 at the Centennial concert Hall. You will be shocked to hear this but i believe there Are still some tickets available. You will recall from the opening paragraph that i will not be the Only husky Middle aged Guy taking the stage. Accompanying me will be Ron Arnst who is famous As the voice of the Winnipeg Gold eyes during game Days at can West Park and one of the nicest Guys you could meet. Musically speaking Ron is a student of the classic american composers Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson to name a few. Ism about As far from classical music As its possible to get is what he told me. So Ron and i make a great team. What we will be doing is serving As the baseball style play by play announcers ism the Colour commentator for a performance of Beethoven is fifth symphony. This performance will pit the Home team the so musicians in a reality orchestra match against a powerful visiting team by which i mean guest conductor Carl Topilow of the Cleveland pops orchestra. Ron was invited to take part in this event because he has a magical voice that conveys All the excitement and thrills of being at the Ballpark whereas i am involved because i spent several months pestering the so by asking whether they Felt it would be a Good idea to let me conduct the orchestra provided i paid for my own rental Tuxedo. The so did not seem too keen about handing me the Baton to conduct a world class orchestra but they were More receptive than air Canada was when i asked if i could Fly one of their jumbo passenger jets. Me please can i Fly one of your jets air Canada no me it would be pretty funny. Air Canada no me i have my own Pilot hat and Ive seen top gun at least 20 times. The musical Point is that Ron and i got together recently and under the professional guidance of so assistant conductor Rei Motoda spent several gruelling minutes rehearsing what i believe will be a Crackerjack classical music debut. Our rehearsal consisted of Rei Ron and myself squeezing into a tiny room where Ron and i ran through our lines while Rei you will think i am lying but ism not pretended to be every single instrument in the orchestra. Her spot on impression of an oboe literally brought tears to my eyes. Ism just saying.
