Now a new Book has been released chronicling the grisly murder Case. Fatal identity chronicles the january 2002 killing and dismemberment of 48 year old North Dakota resident Timothy Wicks at the hands of former Winnipeg musician and career con artist Dennis Gaede. Gaede 46, is serving a life prison sentence after being convicted two years following a trial in Fargo. Gina Barton an investigative reporter with the Milwaukee journal Sentinel dug deep into the Case and has interviewed Gaede on three separate occasions while doing research for the Book. Barton said she finally convinced Gaede to speak with her after writing him numerous letters in prison. Gaede was himself planning to write a Book on the Bible and thought Barton could help. He says he found religion while in prison that he spent a lot of time speaking with the chaplain that he led Bible study said Barton who remains doubtful about Gaedes claims Given his dubious track record with the truth. He was comparing himself to Jesus saying his sex wife was a Demon that she was the real killer. Wicks was lured by Gaede to North Dakota in december 2001 on the false premise that he would eventually end up in Winnipeg for an $ 800 per week music gig. Wicks was a self employed House Painter who dreamed of making it big in the jazz world. Wicks never made it to the Canadian Border. Gaede shot him in the head and later Cut up his body to be discarded in Michigan. Gaede had earlier stolen Wicks identity and was using it to embezzle thousands of dollars from his Fargo employer. Jurors clearly believed Gaedes former wife Diane Fruge who was the prosecutions Star witness and testified How she helped dispose of Wicks body and cover up the crime. Gaede Fruge and her three year old son went on the run but were arrested in Nebraska in March 2002. A tearful Fruge admitted she initially confessed to the killing because she both feared and loved Gaede whom she married several months earlier. She claimed Wicks had tried to rape her and she shot him in self defence. But As she continued to sit behind bars Fruge retracted her comments and eventually agreed to testify against Gaede in Exchange for immunity for her role in helping to dispose of the body. Other than the fact he killed someone she says Dennis was a wonderful person said Barton. Her decision to cooperate with police was also based partly on anger that Gaede was continuing to correspond with another Winnipeg woman head met while in Canada. Gaede lived Here Between 1995 and 2000 and spun a web of lies that was exposed after tax officials found head taken on the identity of a five year old boy who had died in 1963. He was deported to the u. S., where head gone on the run from fraud charges and claimed a motorcycle gang was after him. Gaede also worked As a musician in Winnipeg in a band called widow and As an accountant under the name of the child Luke Gagnon and under the name Devon Lindbolm.
