The two horses will Start making their Way towards Mcbride b. On wednesday. Volunteers were digging through deep Snow in a Remote part of the b. Interior tuesday night fighting to free two abandoned and ailing horses which had been trapped in deep Snow for More than a week. Rescuers dug a Trail through Snow two metres deep and More than a Kilometre Long to get the horses to the groomed snowmobile Trail they will follow wednesday. The Trail has been shovelled right to the main Trail so on Christmas eve the horses will be on the Way to town said John Traquair of spin Drift Power sports in Mcbride. They estimate it will Only take them about five hours to walk them Down the Trail to where they can get them to the horse trailer and out. Some local people speculated earlier in the week that the abandoned horses belonged to a Hunter from Edmonton. The Spca is investigating and is thought to have identified the owner but has refused to give details. Depending on the outcome of the investigation charges May be recommended to the Crown. Local residents say the horses Are doing Well considering the circumstances. The horses have life in them said Lana Jeck a lifetime resident of Mcbride. They re Spunky they re thin but they re eating and drinking. Jecks family has been instrumental in the Rescue efforts. Her son Logan 21, discovered the horses last monday while recovering the snowmobiles of two albertan who got stuck the Day before. On tuesday Jecks daughter Toni 22, confirmed the horses were Skinny and infected with lice but healthy enough to survive. A veterinarian travelled to the site with Spca officials bringing Hay water and blankets to help keep the animals warm. By last wednesday Jecks husband Dave began spearheading the digging Effort to Rescue the animals. Some son of a Bitch screwed up and left some horses out there said Jeck and we have to get them out. The Spca is keeping an Eye on the Rescue efforts and planning the next step. The horses will be taken to an undisclosed Spca Foster facility and monitored by veterinarians. If unclaimed by the owner the horses will be placed in the care of an experienced owner. The Mcbride Community has rallied around the rescuers.
