National party president Mike Crawley said the Liberal executive won't meet to discuss and officially vote on Rae's eligibility until June 13. But the board member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said previous talks between party directors have indicated overwhelming support for letting Rae enter the race. In accepting the interim leadership following the Liberals' third- place showing in last year's federal election, Rae agreed to a stipulation laid out by the board he would not run for the permanent leadership. But the source said the board does not have any mechanism to stop Rae from running, and ultimately it will be up to members and supporters to judge him on his record. Once the board confirms its decision, Rae will be under intense pressure to declare whether he intends to throw his hat in the ring. Rae promised Wednesday if the executive allows him to stand for the permanent leadership, he will come clean on his intentions before Parliament breaks for the summer. The board member said the executive will expect him to give up his interim position in late June or early July if he does enter the race. Alexandra Mendes was elected president of the national party's Quebec wing over the weekend and confirmed she also has heard the majority of directors is in favour of letting Rae run. " But they haven't decided anything," she said. " I wasn't there. This is going to be my first board meeting and I have no idea what the tone of the conversations or the discussions was.
