At about 3: 30 a. m., police were called to the area of Austin Street North, where a 16- year- old girl told them she was walking in the area of Selkirk Avenue and McGregor Street when a man grabbed her from behind, forced her into a home in the area and sexually assaulted her. Following a police investigation, a 23- year- old man was arrested in the area at about 11: 20 a. m. and charged with sexual assault and uttering threats. New weekend garage fires IN what's become a weekend routine, firefighters were busy with five blazes Saturday night that damaged or destroyed as many garages. The most serious cluster occurred at about 2: 30 a. m. in the 700 and 800 blocks of Manitoba Avenue in the North End. Four garages were set ablaze, with damage totalling $ 58,000. One fire, behind 875 Manitoba Ave., was fully involved when crews arrived, and the garage and a car inside were destroyed. Another fire began just before midnight in a garage behind 655 St. Matthews Avenue in the West End. The fire demolished the garage and a car parked inside, and damaged a nearby hydro pole and the vinyl siding on an adjacent house. Damage is estimated at nearly $ 20,000.
